What is Chiropractic?

//

Chiropractic is based on the principles that your body is a self regulating and self healing organism that is powered by your nervous system. When disturbances arise in your nervous system, called vertebral subluxations, your body is robbed of its vitality, while sickness and dis-ease is promoted. The chiropractor removes the subluxation with a specific adjustment, thus, restoring the nervous system's potential to allow the body to heal and function at optimal levels.

How Does Chiropractic Work?

//

Our bodies are constantly striving to achieve homeostasis – the physical state where we function optimally. This Innate Intelligence is incredibly powerful and we believe that when the spine is properly aligned, the body is able to adapt to its environmental conditions, become more resilient and thrive. As the body’s nervous system controls and coordinates every function of the body, it sends impulses and information through the spinal column. Whenever the body encounters stress – whether physical, chemical or emotional – the nervous system is affected, often resulting in the improper alignment of two apposing joints or vertebrae. These “subluxations” put pressure on the spinal nerves and can often lead to a variety of symptoms: from back pain and headaches to fatigue, sciatica and digestive disorders. Chiropractors can also address conditions like osteoarthritis, spinal disk conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, sprains and strains.

Do I need Chiropractic if I'm not in pain?

Many individuals initially seek chiropractic care for relief of a particular pain symptom; however, upon examination it may be found that the actual cause of the pain symptom may exist elsewhere in the body.

Do children need Chiropractic Care?

Infants and children's bodies are constantly changing and growing.  Vital time in one's life is vital for proper health, so it is imperative that their nervous system is maintaining homeostasis at all times.  Thus, it could be argued that chiropractic care is most important for infants and children.

Is Chiropractic Safe?

Chiropractic is one of, if not, the safest forms of all the healing arts. The chiropractor is the only trained professional that can deliver a safe, gentle and highly precise adjustment. Chiropractic is safe for all walks of life including pregnant women, newborns and the osteoporotic elderly.

Did you know? The first chiropractic adjustment was performed by D.D. Palmer on an almost completely deaf man named Harvey Lillard.  After the adjustment, Lillard reported that his hearing had been restored.
