FAQ's

Do chiropractors treat disease and other ailments? /

No, chiropractors do not directly treat diseases.  Furthermore, they really don't treat neck pain or back pain, either.  Chiropractors find the cause of decreased nervous system function as a result of improper aligment or biomechanics or the vertebra (back bones).  Once they locate it, they perform chiropractic adjustments in order to improve the function of your nerves.  Some patients find that with chiropractic adjustments their symptoms of pain or other dysfunctions of the body relieve or go away, but that is a result of improved body function and not from directly treating a disease.

If I start going to a chiropractor, do I have to go for the rest of my life? /

This is a common question, and the answer is no.  Many people discover chiropractic care when they are suffering from a pain - neck pain, back pain, headaches, etc.  Once their pain resolves as a result of recieving chiropractic adjustments, they oftentimes continue their care for preventative and wellness reasons.  You can equate this to visiting your dentist every six months as opposed to only when you have a cavity.  You can choose what type of care that suits you and your lifestyle.

Is chiropractic care only for adults? /

Adults are not the only ones who benefits from Chiropractic care.  It is important for infants and children to recieve chiropractic adjustments so that they can grow up as healthy as they possibly can.  Many infants are first brought into the chiropractor for symptoms such as acid reflux and colic.  Chiropractors do not treatment these ailments specifically, but rather adjust the spine which improves the function of the nervous system in the developing body of the child.
